New ideas and projects, seeking to solve the construction challenges, were presented to CEMEX Ventures in its First Open Call. Focused on its four operational areas, and open on a global scale, the first initiative of this Corporate Venture Capital knocked on thousands of entrepreneur’s doors, disruptors and construction innovators. It counted on the participation of projects from twelve countries, among which the participation of Mexico, the United States and Spain stood out.
The use of technology, innovation and its application to the construction ecosystem, formed the central axes, and the most promising five proposals were selected to carry out their pitch. These five ideas were presented in Madrid, before a jury that had different disciplines expertise.
The winner was IPSUM -Chilean startup- a software platform that helps the management of engineering and construction projects through a web and mobile system. Ipsum is a startup based on methodologies Lean-BIM (Building Information Modeling).
The runner up was PRYSMEX -Mexican startup- presented its IoT (Internet of Things) Technology project to increase security and productivity with real time data, turning into useful information in integrated software about each worker and their environment.
Among the projects presented highlighted proposals focused on technologies such as 3D printing, Big Data & Analytics, Robotics, Drones and Virtual Reality. In addition to new Alternative Financing Models, Marketplaces, Pre-fabricates/Modular Construction, and Sustainability.
